How We Test and Research

PEVGear covers gear and accessories for electric rides: helmets, locks, tires, chargers, pumps, and the rest of the kit. We are honest about how we judge it. Some of this gear we own and use. Some we research from the outside. This page tells you which is which.

We do not run a lab

We are not a testing lab, and we do not pretend to be one. We do not have a machine that crash-rates a helmet or a rig that measures a lock against a bolt cutter. When a product carries a safety rating, that number comes from the certification body, and we say so, we do not claim we ran the test ourselves.

What “researched” means

Researched picks are not scored, and we never call them tested. For most accessories we build the pick from published specs, certifications, owner feedback, warranty terms, and price history. These pages carry no score and never say we tested the item. Where one of us owns the gear and has used it, we say that plainly and tell you what we noticed. If a page claims hands-on use, someone here actually used it. If it does not, we researched it.

How we track prices

Prices update at least once a day. Every price shows the date we last checked it. We pull Amazon prices fresh every day, and we read them the way a shopper would, never through an account that could bias the number. So the price next to a buy button is what you would pay today, not a figure from whenever the page went up.

When we get it wrong

We fix it. If a spec changes, a price moves, or we just got something wrong, tell us and we will update the page and say what changed.
